Generals of BMW E30 convertible top

• The BMW E30 convertible top is custom-made, it no longer needs to be sewn.
• With us, the convertible top BMW E30 is designed like the original convertible top.
• The cross seams for the reinforced bow connections are not visible from the outside of our BMW E30 convertible top. So this seam cannot be damaged by mechanical influences. Our manufacturing method eliminates the risk of a leak.
• The front edge of the roof is designed in the form of a pocket at the corners. This simplifies the positioning of the BMW E30 convertible top and improves the adhesive strength. After gluing, the front edge extends under the rail of the front rubber seal. This creates a mechanical fixation on the leading edge of the roof.
• The seam on the right and left, which runs from front to back, is sewn twice and additionally welded. With this triple processing, you cannot see a stitching seam from the outside (as with the original BMW E30 convertible top).

Convertible top E30 rear window

• A window film approved for the original convertible top is used for the BMW E30 convertible top. The corresponding test number is embossed. The window has the original thickness.
• The rear window is sewn in with an internal window frame with a double seam running exactly parallel.
• The window piping is welded to the foil pane. This prevents moisture from seeping through.
• As standard, we deliver your new E30 convertible top with clear windows. Should you want gray or green windows in your new BMW E30 convertible top, we would be happy to make you an offer.
• The high-quality window film used by us for the BMW E30 convertible top only starts to yellow when the top is already worn out. The original convertible top is also approx. 10-15 years depending on the parking situation of the vehicle. Because 10 years of blazing sun in summer are more damaging to the window film than the shade in a garage.
• A better scratch resistance of the pane surface can be achieved simply by repeated polishing with a good car polish (available in the shop).

Rear hem

• As with the original BMW E30 convertible top, the rear edge of the hood is stiffened with a metal spring. In addition to the adhesive strip, another positioning strip is sewn on. These two devices are necessary in order to position the rear hem exactly during assembly. If these devices are missing, exact positioning is left to chance.
• As with the original BMW E30 convertible top, there are sealing busts behind the side windows in the lower hem. If these brushes are missing, there is a likelihood of noise and moisture leaks.
• The seam edges are reinforced in the same places. If the reinforcements are missing, the edge of the seam may rub off through the convertible top compartment lid.

Reinforcements

• All reinforcements on the inside are adapted as in the original BMW E30 convertible top.
• In a simpler BMW E-30 convertible top, these doublings are missing, although these reinforcements have a positive effect on the exact folding of the top.
• Also pay particular attention to the appliqué on the outside above the side windows. This is attached to a BMW convertible top E30 from our company, just like the original top.
• With simpler convertible tops, the application is simulated by a decorative seam. These simplifications can be seen as cheap and pejorative.

Please check the following before ordering:

• With this type of BMW vehicle, it is necessary to check the tensioning straps between the soft top and the frame, as the rubber bands on the tensioning straps slacken after a few years.
• These tensioning straps must be replaced on the convertible version of your BMW E30 if the soft top has an electric drive. This is the only way to ensure the necessary folding function when opening the soft top.
• The rubber seal on the front edge of the convertible top only needs to be replaced if it is porous.
• In most cases, the aluminum rail that supports this rubber is destroyed during disassembly.
• If you do not have the convertible top fitted by us, you should purchase this rail from your BMW dealer beforehand.
• Please also note that your new BMW E30 soft top does not yet have any folding points in the bends of the soft top linkage. This means that the soft top linkage has to exert more force to fold the soft top when it is opened. If your convertible top linkage already has a lot of play in the joints due to wear, the new convertible top may not open quickly at first. You should then allow the soft top a certain training phase and help it until the folding points have become accustomed.
