Volvo C70 convertible top

Volvo C70 tops of the special class for model years 1998 - October 2005.

General:

• The Volvo C70 convertible top is made to measure, it no longer needs to be sewn.
• We produce the Volvo C70 convertible top like the original convertible top.
• The cross seams for the reinforced bows are not visible from the outside of our Volvo C70 convertible top. This means that these seams cannot be damaged by mechanical impact. Our manufacturing method eliminates the risk of leaks.
• The seam on the right and left, which runs from front to back, is double-stitched and additionally welded. With this triple processing, no quilting seam is visible from the outside (as with the original Volvo C70 convertible top).
• The front edge of the roof is designed in the form of a pocket at the corners. This simplifies the positioning of the Volvo C70 convertible top and improves the adhesive strength. After gluing, the front edge extends under the rail of the front rubber seal. This achieves a mechanical fixation on the front edge of the roof.

Hood straps / tensioning straps:

• The tensioning straps, which are fitted underneath the soft top skin, should also be replaced when the soft top is replaced. These soft top straps or tensioning straps help considerably when folding the Volvo C70 convertible top into the soft top compartment. If the soft top is not supported by the soft top straps and folded carefully, the soft top skin will be abraded near the linkage joints. The old soft top has creases in the right places due to use, which no longer need to be supported by the soft top straps. This is not yet the case with a new Volvo C70 soft top.

Rear window:

• The rear window pane is reused from your Volvo convertible top. On request, we can glue this window into your new convertible top. To do this, send us the convertible top from your Volvo C70. If you wish, we can have the convertible top collected from you by a parcel service. This is possibly the easiest and perhaps cheapest way to replace the windshield. We will give you the price for the gluing on request. It takes 2 days to replace the windshield in our company. Your new Volvo C70 convertible top with your windshield will then be on its way to you ready for installation.

Rear hem:

• Similar to the original Volvo C70 convertible top, the rear soft top hem is reinforced with a plastic strip.

Reinforcements:

• All reinforcements inside are adapted to the original Volvo C70 convertible top.

Conclusion:

• The soft top fabric corresponds to the original equipment of this Volvo C70 convertible top.
• The selected materials ensure the long service life of this convertible top for the Volvo C70. Considering that the fastest Volvo convertible reaches 240 km/h, there is no room for maneuver in the choice of soft top fabric. A stretchier soft top fabric would then have undesirable effects. The soft top becomes louder.

The Volvo C70 Convertible is a successful convertible based on the Volvo 850 platform. It was the first open Volvo after the P1900 to be built from 1997 and went on sale in Germany in 1999.

The new C70 from Volvo was available from 2006. This vehicle was equipped with several improvements. These mostly had an impact on safety in the vehicle and also for pedestrians.

Inside, the passenger cell was improved with head airbags and side impact protection. On the outside, the windshield of the Volvo C70 was tilted more. However, the ride comfort remained rather comfortable.

A special chic feature at the time was that the soft top disappeared completely under a fixed cover in the rear after opening, despite the heated glass pane. The Volvo C70 convertible top did this within 30 seconds.

The Volvo C70's soft top linkage is particularly robust compared to other convertibles. Small defects that occur over time with frequent use can be safely ignored, especially for cost reasons.

The function of the soft top mechanism has never been impaired in any of our customers' Volvo C70 convertibles. It should also be borne in mind that it is virtually impossible to repair the linkage due to the highly industrialized production process.
